You've stumbled across the homepage of Brett Hackleman. I live and work in Phoenix, AZ... moved here in July 2001, after graduating from NC State University with a degree in Computer Engineering. Eventually I'll probably head back for an MBA, but for now I'm having too much fun in the "real world".

I am the co-founder of Band XI International, a small software company providing software development and consulting services. Currently our focus is on embedded Java-based solutions for the defense and automotive industries. I travel a lot, teaching workshops and consulting for customers around the world.

In my former life I worked for IBM's Pervasive Computing division, designing and building Java-based RFID and automotive telematics solutions. Before that, I was happily employed by Object Technology Inc., the founders of what is now the open-source Eclipse project.

Below you'll find links to my personal information, interests, and photos. Enjoy! Or not =)

Eclipse Embedded Day
Thursday, June 25, 2009, 10:01 PM - General
Today we attended and presented at Eclipse Embedded Day in Stuttgart, Germany. Christine Mitterbauer and Ralph Mueller (among others) did an excellent job organizing the event. Of all the recent Eclipse related events, this was by far the closest match to what we do on a daily basis (ie: using Eclipse-based technology in the embedded market). We also got to hang out with the great folks from MicroDoc, EclipseSource, and even Dave Thomas, the founder of OTI. Definitely a worthwhile trip.

Tomorrow morning I'm off to Nuremberg to visit my cousin, Katrin, who I haven't seen in several years. Should be fun!
